Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge: 2/3/13

Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is the weekly recap feature created by

In the life of Smash

It’s been a while! I missed you all. I have been so uninterested in the intarwebz after work, and I feel really disconnected from my beloved community. This might be because I’ve got a new priority in my life, and that would be ME! I exercise 4-5x a week now, mainly after work. And when I get home, and finally eat something, all I want to do is veg in front of the telly w/ Dr. Smash and Pokey. I have to be up so frakin early for school, that I would rather spend the rest of my night-time reading in bed. Unfortunately, I don’t last very long before it’s lights out for Smash. So, I’m trying to focus on only one book at a time now, plus one audio book.

So…yea. I guess I can’t be angry at myself for wanting to get healthy. I finally started logging my food, because I was gaining weight instead of losing it, and it’s all about the food. Some days are better than others, but I’ve lost 3 pounds this week because of watching my food. I’ve also worked up to one hour on the crossramp, burning 600 cals! This makes me so proud because my stamina and endurance is the pits. I will be walking in a 5k (I can’t run long distance because of my knees) that supports the mentoring program in my school, and I signed up for a Vampire 5k, where I will be a vampire and chase the pitiful humans! Muaaaahahahahhaahhaa.

Of course, I owe a lot of my new-found gumption to Sarah and Vania, my book club friends and exercise partners in crime. We see a trainer together once  a week and meet up to torture each other a few other times a week. Having a workout buddy is SO beneficial. Also, you should read Sarah’s Annoying Weight Loss Tips. She is really kicking ass in that arena!!! <3 (That is a different Sarah from my workout partner, btw)

On another note, I was one of the numerous bloggers to get plagiarized (verbatim from two reviews) in January on a certain blog. It was a crappy experience, but I didn’t even have an opportunity to privately deal with it because other bloggers involved blew up the blogosphere. I did not get involved in the drama, but they took care of the problem for me. So, um…thanks! The blog has been taken down, as far as I know, and I hope those 2 young ladies learned a valuable lesson.

Jen D. is making her debut on the blog this coming week! You can read all about her awesomeness here! YAYAYAYYAY!

Oh, I layered my hair!

    1. Hillary says:

Congrats on getting healthy. I am on weight watchers myself and it has been going great. I have been too sick to blog but today I felt well enough to go through my Google reader. Hopefully by the end of this week I will be all better.

      • Weight Watchers DOES work if you follow the rules. But are you able to follow them after you quit the program? It’s just like counting calories, but you have to keep yourself accountable. MUCH luck to you!

    2. *hugs* I’m sorry you were plagiarized! I certainly hope those two girls learned something from the experience (I followed some of it online).

I’m working on the getting healthy thing, too. Of course, I’ve been sidelined the past two weeks because of a wicked cold-cum-sinus infection. Blurg.

      • The plagiarism thing happened so quickly, and was gone so quickly. It was like a blip in time. It never really sank in before it was gone. Heh.

I have another sinus infection too! I had one last month. I never get sick. This new state and its damn climate and ecosystem is screwing me over.

    3. Melissa says:

Good for you for putting yourself first! I really need to start watching what I eat and getting healthier!!

    4. Awwww, thanks for the shout-out :-) Congrats on your weight loss! And I’m so happy that you’re doing awesome and sticking to your workouts! It does suck that working out infringes on blogging and reading time, but it’s worth it.

And THANK YOU for posting that link for how to move from WP.com to self-hosting, I want to do that this year.

      • I love your post and have read it a few times. I like how REAL you are about it all. We need more of that in the weight loss arena. Way too much BS!

I wish you much luck with self-hosting. I LOVE it sooooooo much!

    5. Making yourself a priority is important. I’ve been trying to do more of that as well. Or, at least, letting myself NOT doing things. Because sometimes you have to do nothing to do something.

      • It’s about time I do it. I think the big kick in the pants is because I hope to become a mommy this year. I want to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. But even if that weren’t a factor, obesity runs in my family and I need to do something about it before it’s too late.

    6. Annie Walls says:

Woo-hoo! Rock the vampire run! I’m participating in something like that, only I’ll be a zombie. ;)

    7. I’m so glad to see you back on Sunday. I thought today would be my re-debut, but it wasn’t. Le sigh.

Glad to hear you are making you a priority. You have to. I’m having similar issues. Which is good. Working out. Yea. But no extra energy or time to fire up the computer. I’m ok with sharing you with you ;) keep it up.

    8. “Jericho Barrons sex scene”??? You mean there’s sex in the Fever series?!?!?! I don’t believe it!!! Well, I’ll find out soon enough. That series is on my Seriously Series to do list ;) I read the first one and I still don’t believe it :D

That’s awesome you’re taking control and taking care of your bod!!! It is sooo hard to do that and not feel guilty about hopping on the computer and either nailing out a post or visiting about 10 blogs. So I don’t worry. Hence, why I’m bad blogger :(

But that’s great you’re tracking your food!! I do that, too and it makes a huge diff!! I’m lucky that I can eat the same thing day in, day out. I just need to get the food in house and start doing it. Keep up the good work and enjoy vegging with the Doc and kitty!!!

    9. I totally hear you when it comes to reading at night … sometimes I only get through a few pages and I pass out. BUT I’m so happy that you’re enjoying your new job AND focusing on you! I also can’t run long distances because of my knees, but it helps when I tape them up. I’d like to at least be able to run 5K … I guess I should work on that!

      Have a good week!

    10. Sucks that you were plagiarized but good thing it was overly quickly.

Yay on getting healthy! One of these days I’ll have the mindset to do that myself.
