My new pretties of the week!

This week was not the greatest. I had yet another allergy/sinus infection, that eventually led to me losing my voice. It was parent conference week, so that went over real well! I sounded like a man on steroids one day, and a dying cow the next. Fun times. At this point, I’m still really congested and sometimes feel like I’m drowning in goo. Ugh.
In other news, I went to the Pitch Dark Days Tour in Atlanta on Tuesday. I saw Tahereh Mafi and Veronica Rossi in Miami last year, but it was a first with Cynthia Hand and Brodi Ashton. All ladies were completely fun and entertaining. I adore author’s personalities, for the most part. I’m always amused and engaged when I get a chance to see them in the flesh. They all talked about the latest in their series. I’ve only read Unearthly, but I swear I will at least get to Mafi and Rossi’s series this year!
Of course, Tahereh had on a pair of black boots that had a heel longer than her arm. LOL. She has the most bitchin collection of shoes. Afterwards, some of us went to dinner with the authors. Tahereh sat next to me, and I was kinda quiet because it was late and I was sick and sounded like I was dying. I wish I would have talked to her more. Boo. However, it was enjoyable and I always enjoy a good author mingle.
This photo makes me giggle. I call it “Invisible Jazz Hands.”

This week, I hope to start my first fertility treatment trial. THAT is scary and exciting and a lot of other emotions. This week is also going to be very difficult on my time. A full work week, plus 2 night events and then Valentine’s Day! No rest for the sick and freaked out. Dr. Smash and I are going to see Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare’s Tavern, however. No better way to spend V-Day than with tragic love, English pub food and my boo!

Hey Ash! You had a great week! I hope everything goes well for you in your upcoming personal endeavours. Thinking good thoughts for you and the Mr.!
Thank you very much!
Ugh, this is the part of working at a school that isn’t so pleasant–getting sick all the time? Or who knows, maybe you would’ve gotten sick anyway…there are certainly many germs flying around. I’ve been able to ward off a sinus infection by sleeping 9 hours plus when I returned from my conference, but that’s not feasible for everyone! I’m praying for you with the fertility treatments. I know it can be a long, arduous road. *hugs*
Yes, I think I need a bubble. My gallon of hand sanitizer is obviously not working for me. :/
Thank you, Jen! This year might MAJOR in my life.
You crack me up chick as usual. Thank you for the shout-out appreciate it. I’m so jealous of all the group YA tours…they never come here
I try to be funny. I’m glad I succeed sometimes. It seems I always share a link of yours on Sundays.
I’m sorry the authors don’t visit Nawlins! Get a petition goin!
I hope you’re feeling better by now!!! Stupid weather probably isn’t helping a bit!!! Hang in there, girlie! And I’ll keep you and hubs in my prayers with everything else
How fun that you got to go out for food with the authors!! Even just sitting in on the conversation must have been great! I would have totally geeked off on that!!
Congrats on the BBTC nomination!! You are the queen of World Building in my book (pun totally intended!!!)
Have a great Valentine’s Day with the Doc!!!
Thank you! I feel a little better, though I’m still a snot factory.
Yea, going out to eat with authors is always fun. There are a fun hub of them here in ATL. My book club co-leader and workout buddy, Vania, does author promotions, and is a photographer for book covers and videographer for book trailers, so she knows everyone, it seems.
YAY FOR WORLD-BUILDING! I am still shocked it got nominated because I never thought it got high traffic, but maybe it does, and it will get MOAR now! <3
P.S. Is your blog design newish? I loves it!
I hope you feel better soon. And *sad face* for not being able to enjoy the author dinner as much as possible. And congrats on the nomination
Thank you, all around!
Damn. I was going to mention the BBTC and forgot. Next week for sure.
Hope you start feeling better soon, Smash. Being sick is no fun at all.
um, congrats to YOU on your nominations, chica!!! <3
It’s like I’ve been half-sick, too, which is even worse. Either I want to be full blown so I can stay home and read and sleep, or I want to be healthy. Being in the middle means I still have to work and deal with life while feeling half alive. Boo.
I hear you. I’ve been dealing with a sore throat/cough lately that I’m pretty sure is just allergies. But it’s in that rather annoying half-sick stage.
I did not see the badges! Way fun.
I think mine are allergies, too. I never had these problems until I moved to Georgia. Of course, I also work in a school, which is a cesspool of germs. Ick.
Right there with you — I’ve got a terrible sinus infection that just won’t die! First round of antibiotics put a very small dent in it so I’m off to the doc this week for more. Hope you feel better sooN!
How in the world did Tahereh walk with heels like that? *ponders*
Good for you almost completing your first series! I had a few where I had ONE book to read, so those are easy, but I just started my first trilogy that’s been sitting on my shelf. I have SO MANY of those!
That book signing looks AWESOME! I wish we had more of those here!
Good luck with your treatment this week!
I love the invisible Jazz hands.
Also congrats on the nomination!! That’s exciting news.
Yea! For Book Even Fun. I will get to Shatter Me!!
Good Luck with your treatments. My sister had a hard time. Lots of emotional moments, but she does have 2 beautiful girls now. Keep yourself focused on your health & mental health
I hope you feel better and I wish you luck with your goal to have a baby. Yay! A Smash baby! I need to peruse some links on this too.
Hope you’re feeling better!
I have Every Day on my TBR and hope to get to it soonish.
And Corey and Topanga!!!!
Every Day is just so different. I hope you enjoy it.
ZOMG! Corey & Topanga!!! <3
