Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is the weekly recap feature created by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Tara @ 25 Hour Books, where they shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else they’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers/authors/publishers/etc during the week, and talk about the books they plan on reading in the coming week.
Smash Attack Reads Recap
- Mel reviews Death and the Girl Next Door (Darklight #1) by Darynda Jones: “Unlike most young adult books, the characters in Death and the Girl Next Door can be downright scary and bloodthirsty at times. Me likey!! “
- Top Ten Tuesdays: Top Ten Books I’d Want On A Deserted Island. I’m a cheating biatch.
- Audrey Reviews Final Exam by A. Bates: “Point Horror books are basically the love children of slasher flicks and Scooby Doo, with a healthy dose of magic Pringles dust: once you pop the top…you just keep filling your cart and re-scanning the shelves to make sure you got them all.”
- Smash reviews Hexed by Kevin Hearne: I just adore Oberon and his fondness of sausage and bitches.
- Let’s Talk: Series Love…or Hate? POPUUUUULAR topic!
In the life of Smash
WHAT LIFE?!?! Looks around for it.
Actually, life is cool. Feeling a bit of pressure on the job front, but that is to be expected. I now have FIVE clients! It’s tough getting the permission forms back from students. For those that don’t return them, I contact the parent and do my best to get them to buy into it. Doesn’t take too much, but the kid needs to be ok with it, too. I’m having my first site team visit after holiday break and I’m FREAKING OUT. But, it will be good! I’ve uncovered a lot during the needs assessment process, and ATTENDANCE will be my major focus, among other things.
Dr. Smash and I are taking a trip to my hometown for the holidays and I can’t wait to see my mamacita! She might be moving up here sooner than later. There is so much to work out though, and I wish I was there to help her out! Anywho, I won’t be around too much (like I’m around much now, ha!) and I doubt I’ll do a CR post next Sunday.
Book Club discussed The Raven Boys…briefly. We seemed to be more interested in discussing other books, and an upcoming writer’s retreat in the mountains. I might join them and use the time to read/blog. Sounds hella awesome. Also, I’m joining LA Fitness because 2 of my club pals are members and need motivation and exercise pals. I can meet them on the way home from work and we can lose some weight and get in shape together!!!
♥ ENJOY YOUR LOVED ONES AND GIVE THANKS♥
Smashtastic Stats
- Read in 2012: 94
- The Raven Boys: Another book club choice. At first, I wasn’t completed interested in the plot. The 2nd half of the book was much more interesting and the last 150 pages were the best part. The raven boys were an interesting bunch. The social worker in me wanted to swoop into the pages and save the raven boys for various reasons. And I loved Blue and her quirky family. The ending of the book left me perplexed, however.
- The Demon’s Lexicon: I highly suggest this audio book, if only for the narrator! So damn awesome. The first half of the story was ok, but I definitely enjoyed the 2nd half and there’s a nice little twist!

LOL! I’m not a Social Worker, but the ‘Mom” gene in me was working just as strong with those Raven Boys. I think Blue and her quirky family was one of my favorite parts of the book.
Let’s Talk! this week has been great fun. I might have even found a couple more series books to pick up. I really shouldn’t be surprised.
And the Vlad cover was released this week! *runs off to track down sexy vamp*
Yea, mom/social worker gene is dang similar. heh. Let’s Talk was ridiculously successful this week. People are still commenting!
A writer’s retreat in the mountains? Sign me up. I hope your mamacita gets to move to Atlanta too–you must miss her.
I remember doing a research project with high school students and getting consent forms signed by the parents was a nightmare. But I’m glad you have a growing caseload!
Yea, doesn’t the mountain retreat sound fun? I’m glad I was still invited and I hope I can go.
Hopefully my mamacita does get up here soon. I’m hoping it all works out. I can’t wait to see her this week!
Yea…the consent thing is crazy because half the forms don’t even make it to the parent’s eyes. Just more work for me!
My blog(s) and I feel very loved by you this week, Smash.
Ooooo! And you’re reading Release. I hope you’re enjoying!
You are always loved! And yes, Release IS exciting!
