In the life of Smash

I also signed up for a 30-day subscription to a social work exam test prep site, full of interactive stuff to help me study for the test. So, I cleaned and studied most of the week. Oh, and I COOKED! I’m cooking more since I’m unemployed at the moment. It’s fun. I made this:

Many people asked for the recipe. It’s from Rachel Ray, and ridiculously easy to make. I wanted to swim around in it. So delicious. Enjoy your Mac n’ Goat Cheese!
And I got to spend lots of time with Pokey, who loves to join me on the couch when I read or study…

Favorite Quotes of the Week
”And you’re here to take care of me?” BLEEP sneered. “You might be enhanced, but I have the upper hand.’
“Dude, seriously, upper hand? Who says that crap any more? You’re reading to many old megalomaniac how-to books. The modern megalomaniacs prefer something more effective than holding a buunch of little kids behind an electronet.”
-Alien Proliferation by Gini Koch
Tidbits from around the blogosphere
Authors/Publishers
Kim Harrison released the EVER AFTER cover! WIN!

- Cassandra Clare posted some photos on The Mortal Instruments set. JCB is such a weird looking guy and not at all what I pictured as my beloved Jace, but I have to admit he looks uber cool in all that leather and tattoos.
- Jeff Hirsch posted up the first 3 chapters of Magisterium! I cannot wait to share my thoughts on this book.
- Have you SEEN all the Elemental Assassin short stories on Jennifer Estep‘s website?? ZOMG!
- Rhiannon Frater announced that Pretty When She Dies is now available in audio!

- Fifty-Shades Generator: I kid you not, this is the best thing since sliced bread. I have not laughed so damn hard since ever! NSFW or young people’s eyes! It’s raunchy, disgusting and silly as hell. You will roar with laughter, I’m sure of it.
Search terms
I’m taking out the search term fun. Amanda was right. SEO really messes up all the fun search terms I used to get. But, I’m not complaining because SEO is sending a lot of people to the blog….so it’s a WIN in the end.
Up Next…

“JCB is such a weird looking guy and not at all what I pictured as my beloved Jace…”
Thank you for saying this. I kept thinking the same thing and I couldn’t quite wrap my head around it. I’m sure the movie will be awesome but until then, I’ll just keep making this face… o.O O.O O.o
I’ll second that, Kelly.
LOL. Best faces evar. Yea, I don’t know who I’d choose, but JCB ain’t it. However, I’m still wicked excited for the movie!
WHAT A COOL RESTAURANT! Seriously … I wish my city had awesome places like that!
I really need to get back into cooking … I make meals, but they’re usually crazy simple and repetitive. Must change that!
172 ZOMBIE BOOKS TO READ? That’s insane! I thought me having, like, 5 was bad! Though, I’m just easing into zombies, so maybe one day I’ll have just as much as you!
I totally agree about Jace. Maybe he’ll look better under movie lighting? Honestly, when I saw pictures of him and the actress who play Clary out and about before filming, I thought it was two girls. I’m sooo skeptical about his character!
Yea, The Vortex is a neat place. Atlanta definitely has a wicked awesome culinary scene. And YES. Get back into cooking. That pasta dish was SO EASY. Trust me. I am not the cook in my family, at all. If I can do it, you can do it!
Yea, I’ve read maybe 20 or so of the zombies books so far. I keep adding and adding…*sigh*
JCB is so weird looking to me! Serious facial angles and stuff. We shall see if it works out in the end.
Not-so-fun search terms are something I’d rather not be right about. The good thing about keeping a search terms section, though, is that the more you have wacky search terms in your CR posts, the more you get those terms leading to your blog. Which explains why I keep getting all those search terms about Rehv’s barbed penis.
The article on sending out emails from Copyblogger is an interesting one. I have a policy of not responding to business-related emails during non-office hours (just to discourage clients from thinking I’m available for them at all hours), but I check (and open) my email ALL THE TIME. I may have to experiment with my newsletter.
Your pictures of Pokey never fail to make me laugh.
OH. Look at you being all informative and stuff. Hmmmm. Ok, I guess I will keep them. But, there wasn’t a whole lot of interesting ones this week. Just a ton leading to reviews, which ROCKS!
Yea, I’m constantly researching the best time to schedule posts for maximum readership. I kinda give up. 7 AM is what I do now. *shrugs*
I’m glad my cat pics don’t annoy you. I’m sure there are some ppl who role their eyes…”Oh gawd, there’s another picture of Smash’s cat.” LOL. But, POkey is wicked amusing in real life. Such an attention whore and totally poses for shots.
I’ve given up on figuring out when to post stuff for my blog. I stick to midnight. I pretty much have the opinion that if people are going to read what you have, they’ll do it no matter what time you post.
Um… I post pictures of the boyfriend’s and the boyfriend’s brother’s dog ALL THE TIME. So I can’t get annoyed for someone doing the same.
Plus, Pokey is hilarious.
I love the boyfriend’s doggies.
You better be careful with all those cooking tweets. You might have a hungry horde of bloggers show up at your door!
You’re doing a great job whittling that TBR pile down! Honestly we’ll never make it through because there are always new books to discover but it’s nice to get some of the older ones out of the way.
I still can’t watch THG movie because that’s not my Peeta lol I’ll cave one day though.
HA! I had like 10 ppl say they were coming over when I posted the pasta picture, plus a ton on Facebook. It was funny.
DUDE! Josh did SUCH a great job in that role. I adored him and really didn’t care about his looks. Jace, however, is my FAVORITE YA boy and I have lots and lots of thoughts about his looks. LOL.
Yes, the TBR pile is coming down, slowly. It feels like a chore sometimes. Boo. I will only accept book I really want to read now. I have SO many of my own books that really need my attention.
Look at that kitty face! Love it
Sounds like you’ve had an awesome week! And that pasta looks DEELISH!
That pasta dish was amazeballs. SO easy to make. Give it a try!
bwaaahaha!!! Fifty Shades Generator is absolutely hysterical!!! So bad but soooooo flat out pee my pants funny… AND I found the books entertaining in their own “charming” way (hey, I own it!)
I’ll sure miss the your search terms but Amanda’s will keep me entertained!! Have a great week!
Best. Creation. EVAR!
I’m gonna continue the search terms. Amanda made a good point above…
Oh that pasta looks delish! I am going to have to try it!
It was really easy to make! It made 3 meals for T and I. I was in heaven. Just delish.
What SEO thing are you talking about? I’m all about more traffic
So I think you might not be able to do do SEO stuff on Blogger. I’m not really sure, you could do a search. Anywho, SEO is Search Engine Optimization. Pretty much you add keywords and stuff so that your posts coming up during searches. It has worked amazingly for me lately. Every week when I check my recent keyword searches, I see tons and tons searches leading to my reviews.
