Eons ago, vampires tried to turn the dark Fae to harness their magic, only to create a demonic enemy more powerful than they could have imagined. Now, the Vampiric Fae are on the move, hunting anyone in their path. As the war with the vampires ratchets up, Myst, Queen of the Indigo Court, enshrouds New Forest in her chilling grasp.

Cicely Waters, owl shifter and Wind Witch, has rescued the Fae Prince Grieve at a great cost. Their reunion has lost them the allegiance of the Summer Queen — and the tolerance of the vampires. In desperation they turn to the Consortium for help. Now, to regain the good will of Lainule, they must dare to enter the heart of Myst’s realm. But as Cicely and Grieve embark on their search for the heartstone of Summer, Winter is already wreaking her terrifying revenge.

goodreads Review by Mel: Night Seeker by Yasmine Galenorn

Night Seeker is the third book in Yasmine Galenorn’s incredible Indigo Court series and is not a starting point.  Those of you who are familiar with Yasmine’s other urban fantasy series, The Otherworld aka Sisters of the Moon, will love this one as well.  Though there are vampires, Fae, magic and shapeshifters in the Indigo Court world, it is very different and much darker than Yasmine’s other series.

By the end of Night Veil, the second book in the series, Cicely had been betrayed by those she trusted most but also picked up a very unexpected and potentially powerful ally.  Now that her world has been turned upside down where will she go, what will she do and what is she willing to give up to get there?

Things really shifted in Night Seeker.  Cicely has her Fae Prince, Grieve, back but at a terrible cost.  She and her beloved cousin, Rhiannon, have lost the only place they ever called home and are now on the run.  Not only are they hiding from Myst, Queen of the Indigo Court, and her shadow hunters, they are also hiding from the Fae and vampires as well.  Almost everyone they ever considered an ally has turned against them, so now Cicely must turn to the last group of people she ever wanted to turn to; a magical guild known as the Consortium.  In the past, the Consortium shunned both Cicely and her cousin, so expectations are very low.  Luckily, the Consortium agrees to help Cicely and her group.

With the help of the Consortium and an interesting change in the vampire power structure, Cicely and company go on a hunt.  They must find the heartstone of Summer to save Lainule, The Queen of Rivers and Rushes.  The journey is a very dangerous one and along the way Cicely gains unexpected power and learns that there is more to her destiny that she ever suspected.  Problem is getting those around her to open up about it.

So much happened in this book that it makes for a difficult review.  If I talk about things that happen early on in the book it ruins things that happen later.  If I give away much it will spoil the book and I don’t want to do that.  Just know that power structures change in the vampire world, destinies are revealed and a certain incredibly sexy yet creepy vampire grows even more obsessed with Cicely.

On that note, I must talk about the hotness that is Lannan.  Lannan, Elder vampire and hedonistic golden boy.  Throughout the series Lannan has come across as sadistic, cold and overwhelmingly bloodthirsty.  If he sees something he wants, he takes it.  If he has to manipulate a person into being in his debt, all the better.  In a way he reminds me of Lothaire from Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series.  He is dark, creepy, warped, twisted and has stalker written all over him.  That being said, there’s just something about him that’s so incredibly sexy that he’s the male character that stands out most for me in this series.  Guess that says a lot about me, huh?  *grins* What can I say?  I like my men dark and twisted.  Did I mention that he’s incredibly frakkin hot?!

Yasmine Galenorn is a must-buy author for me.  She is a brilliant urban fantasy writer and at times it blows my mind how very creative she is.  The world-building both amazes me and keeps me guessing, the character development is superb, there’s lots of action, a kick ass heroine, strong plot and very, very hot sex. Night Seeker is by far the best book in the series and I give it 5 stars.  If you like your urban fantasy dark, gritty and incredibly hot pick up Night Myst, the first book in the Indigo Court series.  It’s well worth the read.  You can thank me later.

    1. First off, that cover is dead sexy. And there’s an OWL! ♥
Secondly, your description of this world has me needing to read this book. I’m a sucker for intense world-building and this sounds right up my alley!
