Today’s suggested writing topic: We’d love for you to share a positive “real life” experience with books! Either by way of your own partnerships in your community, a book signing you went to or possibly even a get together with fellow book bloggers. Tell us all about it!
This is easy. Because of book blogging, I met some of the most incredible ladies this side of the Mississippi. And not only met them, but became fast friends and ended up enjoying their company and camaraderie on numerous occasion. Much love to Isalys and Vanessa of Book ♥ Soulmates, Jen from Not Now, I’m Reading, Nelly from All about {n} and Yani from The Secret Life of an Avid Reader! And I need to mention Yami too, who doesn’t blog but reads just as much as we do. She and I have similar tastes so it’s been fun talking books! We’ve attended a ton of bookish events, and I would likely have never attended had I not met them.
We’ve also done dinners and get-togethers, like clothing swaps, scrapbooking, holiday fun and celebrations. I am so very sad I am moving away from them but I refuse to believe I will never see them again. I’m going to see how they feel about at LEAST a yearly meet-up/getaway of sorts, bookish or non-bookish related. I adore them hardcore. They are my new sistas from otha mistas!

Luckily for Miami, Books & Books has a ton of literary events. Over the past year, they have come to know our faces, which is pretty cool. Plus, I have to say there that there is nothing more incredible than hearing an author state they know who you are due to the blogosphere, and that networking alone has been off the charts amazing! I am moving away to Atlanta in less than 2 weeks and look forward to getting settled, meeting new bloggers, scoping out the best bookstores and possibly finding a book club – something I’ve always wanted to do.

Sooo lucky to live in a REAL city!! You won’t be THAT far away from your buds so I believe you’ll be able to get back together!! That’s what Expedia sales are for… cheap airfare!!
I love your story!!
Ohhhh. Expedia and Tavel Zoo. Woot! ♥
It’s so awesome that you live close to other bloggers that you have been able to get to know. I have I think 2 blogger friends that live near me. One was my friend before blogging. I have gotten to know some awesome people and I would love to meet them for real. I hope that you will get to meet some other people in Atlanta and you will still get to visit all of the friends you have made in FL.
I have been blessed, that is for certain. I think you might meet the one day. Save your pennies for a book con or a road trip.
Aww, that’s so awesome!!! I wish I knew some bloggers in my area – I’m not even sure if there are any.
I love to pictures! You can really tell you guys were having a blast.
Thanks so much for sharing this great story with us.
You have to start asking around on Twitter and Facebook. You never know who may be lurking in your hood.
You are sooo incredibly lucky. I wish I had those kinds of bookish opportunities in my area. The only place I see authors and other like myself is at library conferences. Thanks for participating in AC BEA.
I am sorry that you are not able to participate in a lot of bookish events, but I do hope you get a lot out of your online networking!
I’d say that as far as networking goes, I learn the most from Twitter.
You are sooooo lucky! I’m jealous! I would love to find local book bloggers, but I’m not even sure there ARE any. I live in the middle of nowhere (seriously – there’s a town about 30 mins away that is ACTUALLY CALLED “Hicksville.” You can’t make that stuff up! lol)
Alas, for now I’ll have to make do with my amazing online friends, but I’m determined to make sure I meet at least SOME of them sometime soon
Wow. Hicksville. Heh.
At least you have the internet. We ALL would not have met without it, so YAY!
ohh you website changed since i was here last, me likey, good to see all you ladies having fun, loves it!

I am so thankful to have met you thanks to the blogosphere! I love you hardcore and I can't wait to visit you in Atlanta…because I will make it happen somehow!!

*huggles you hard* I feel blessed to have met you and the gang during my short stint in the MIA! You ladies quickly accepted me into your circle and we fit like a friggin glove. I am grateful for your beautiful hearts and hilarious personalities! I refuse to think we will never see each other again. We need to make a yearly get away happen.
Awww, this is so beautiful!! I am so happy when I hear stuff like that actually happening!! Books really do connect people!
And I love it!
Enjoy aBEA!

Awwww *Heart* Y’all! I love when there are little hubs of us around everywhere. I am thinking we are going to take over the world
Did you seriously say “sistas from otha mistas”? rofl omg… funny stuff.
I had no idea you lived in Florida all this time! We were kind of neighbors. I’m in North FL. You South Florida gals have all the fun. =)

Awww..that’s so awesome that you got to meet and make friends with all of these other bloggers! It looks like you all definitely have a blast together!
You guys look like you have so much fun together! That’s awesome! And I know Atlanta has a ton of bloggers and bookish events, so I’m sure you’ll find a new group ASAP!
Thanks for stopping by my Armchair BEA Networking Post!!
thats so cool to have met up with your local peeps. Its an amazing community of books and people. Wish I lived near you #bookbully
Awe…I know you are going to miss your FL buds. I was able to meet Yani at ALAMW. She is awesome.
I am very sad. And i haven’t seen Yani in a while! She is so busy now.
Fun pictures! I always get so wrapped up in whatever even I’m at that I forget all about taking pictures!
I used to take a ton of pics because I scrapbooked all the time, but now I rarely do it. Pics are still so important though!
I know you have to be sad that you are moving away from such wonderful ladies!! I have to admit that I am excited you are moving closer to me though!!! I really hope we get a chance to meet up soon!
I am ridiculously sad. I hate thinking that this Saturday is the last time I will see them for a long while. I feel so blessed to have had them in my life this past year and I look forward to their friendship for years to come. As for you, YES. We will meet. It’s in the cards.
