Bout of Books is a coming, yo!
The Bout of Books Read-a-Thon was created by Amanda @ On a Book Bender on a complete whim in August 2011. It took on a life of its own and was such a hit that Amanda decided to do it again and turn it into a somewhat regular occurrence. There are no set dates for Bout of Books; rather, Amanda tries to work with Bout of Books participants to determine the best dates for them.
However, there are a few things about Bout of Books that will always stay the same.
- It is a week-long read-a-thon, usually from 12:01am on a Monday through 11:59pm on a Sunday in whatever time zone you are in.
- Bout of Books is low pressure, meaning participants are only asked to push themselves to read more than they normally would during any given week. There is no competition between readers.
- How much time a reader wants, and can commit, to read, tweet, or network with fellow bloggers is left to individual preference. All challenges and giveaways are optional.
- Networking with fellow bloggers is actively encouraged, though never required. Co-hosts are there to facilitate blog hopping and interaction between participants.
- Use Twitter to post updates throughout the read-a-thon. Everyone will be tweeting with the #boutofbooks hashtag.
The Bout of Books 4.0 team consists of Amanda @ On a Book Bender, Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal, Shirley @ Creative Deeds Reads and Hannah @ Once Upon a Time.

My Goals
- READ!
- Ok, here’s a more detailed response: READ in between looking for a place to live and a job to do in Atlanta, coordinate moving logistics, begin to clean and pack up current place, as well as mingle with in-laws who are in town for T’s graduation. Easy, right? :/
Books To Read
You should participate. Yes, YOU! It doesn’t matter what you have going on during the week. There are no limits to this read-a-thon. Just READ.

When I first looked at your pic of books to read for the bout of books I was ready to get all #bookbully on you for not having A Perfect Blood on there. Then I took a closer look and realized that it looks like you they were all YA books and that must be what you are in the mood for. But I can still grumble right?
The real reason I choose YA? Because they are quicker to read, so I can read more. That’s the only reason why.
But you are ok to #bookbulyl me for not reading my favorite author’s latest book. God, I FAIL. FAIL HARD.
Lol The thought of quickness never even crossed my mind, but it makes complete sense. I’m just so excited to finally find out what you think about it that it’s driving me bonkers that you haven’t read it. Have you heard about the Hollows short story collection, Into the Woods coming out in the fall?
I have NOT Heard about Into the Woods! WOOT!
Great list! Mine’s an eclectic mess (which should be no surprise.) I have a couple of ‘short & sweet’ ones, but a lot of them are books that are ones I have been waiting to read. Yep, I stacked the deck again and I even threw in a LOTU book!
Annnddd! I can’t spell… well, actually, I can spell I just used the wrong word. Geesh! I meant ‘threw’ not ‘through’ – obviously! *shhh!!! – don’t tell Amanda*
I LOVE eclectic messes.
Yay! So excited that you are doing this too!!!
It shall be loads of fun!
*pokes you* I’m so glad you’re able to participate with us this time. I think last time you were so busy with work, you didn’t get much reading in. (neither did I, actually)
But we’re going to ROCK THIS ONE! And I’m looking forward to the book poetry challenge!
I am damn confident I will get some form of reading in, even though I am just as busy as I was the last time!
I already saw it Shirley. I’m disappointed in you, trying to hide these things from me. Tsk tsk.
It was ME trying to do her a favor. You commented RIGHT as I deleted her comment. Too damn quick for us, Amanda…
Sorry Shirley! I tried!
Thanks Ash! I just knew I was going to get caught. Amanda’s too fast for all of us…
(Now we are going to TOTALLY confuse everyone who reads this! Gotta keep things interesting
What a great list of books to read. I would participate, but I totally don’t want to try to commit myself to it. Maybe I will do the next one. Though it would be really good to try to get through some of my review books.
AMY! There is no certain level of commitment! Just READ! You do it anyway, right?
COME ON!!!
I’ve been hooked on this read-a-thon since the first one, it’s just so much fun! Good luck reading all your books
I feel so out of touch (I have re-added your RSS feed for the 3rd time let’s hope it updates)!
I am going to honestly say that I only recognize one of those books but you wouldn’t be surprised about that LOL!
Good luck next week!
What the heck? I’m sorry it’s not working.
I’m participating too. Good luck!
Same to you! Read until your eyes bleed. Or something less painful and likely permanent.
Everytime I sign up for the read a thon I’m even MORE anti productive than USUAL… maybe I could put a zombie spin on it…. *wheels start turning*
OMG!!!!!!! You should totally do a zombie read-a-thon! I mean, really!
I am SO looking forward to this read-a-thon. I’m a little behind my reading goals for May so I’m hoping it will get me caught up!
It looks like you have a GREAT selection of books to keep you occupied. I just hope you have a chance to get away from those other stressful things that need doing to read. I’ve heard a lot of good things about The False Prince!
If you like The Fale Prince you’ll have to let me know! I’ve been debating that one
–Katie
Great fun bunch of books. I’m really interested in the Cabot series & Above.
Lol you reminded me that I need to do my goals post for the read-a-thon. I guess I had better get on that soon since this is right around the corner!
I’m jealous of your pretty pile of books that you hope to read.
I hope looking for a new place to live and a job goes well
I’m sure you have great books to read, too!
You’re going to have a full week. I will totally cheer you on and tempt you with mentions of Tom Welling’s sexiness.
What? That’s a good motivator!
Yes. I demand Tom Welling rewards.
Good luck with your goal!! Participating with you =D
good luck!
Ooh, Ashes Ashes. I’ve been curious about that one for a while. Good luck!
I wish I could give you advice on which book to start first, but I haven’t read any of those! I have a busy week as well for the read-a-thon…I’m hoping I can still read lots! Maybe if I prep really good today and Sunday, I can do a good job throughout the week.
I wish you much luck!
I’m super excited for this readathon
It’s my second – so I’m still kind of new to them.
Thank you for hosting and good luck with your goals! It sounds like a busy week for you!
I do hope you enjoy yourself. And don’t stress out – just read!
