Book Blogger Confess Book Blogger Confessions: Memes

Tiger from Tiger’s All Consuming Books and Karen from For What It’s Worth have introduced a meme called “Book Blogger Confessions.”On the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, they will be discussing a topic that affects book bloggers and give us a chance to vent, share our opinion or offer a solution.

Memes

Love em or hate em? How many do you participate in? Which kinds do you like best? Do you feel like there are too many?

I proudly wave my meme flag. If I could get away with it, this would likely be a meme-only blog. I like memes so much because they give me a direction in which to go with my thoughts. I explained this here. However, I  realize that a blog should have variety and not be the same thing, all the time. It  helps to keep things fresh for your readers, but also for you, the blogger. I get it, I get it…blah blah. icon smile Book Blogger Confessions: Memes

There are a ton of memes to choose from. I used to do Wednesday Wants and Tune-In Tuesdays, but they became to cumbersome. Now I participate in 4 (plus this one).

  • Must Read Monday: This is my chance to be a #BookBully on my own turf. I think I might also start writing reviews during this feature for those epic books, but add in other’s commentary, too.
  • Top Ten Tuesdays: How can you not like this meme? I love to read other blogger’s responses to these questions! It reminds me over and over how HUGE the publishing world really is, and how sad I am that I will never be able to read them all. However, it also provides me with great variety and reminds me that the book blogging community is very diverse, and this makes me hella happy.
  • TGIF: I enjoy Ginger’s weekly questions. They reach a personal level, which I enjoy experiencing about other bloggers.
  • Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge: While this serves as a weekly recap, it has become so much more. I get to let my personality shine, and in turn, get to bask in the glow of other bloggers’ personal light. ♥ Amanda & Tara no longer do a link up, but we are still encouraged to participate as long as we keep the purpose of the meme alive: COMMUNITY!

    1. That’s the great thing about all the different memes out there – being able to choose that ones that work for you! I love the discussion ones, and although I rarely participate, I like reading Top Ten Tuesdays – it’s great seeing how different everyone is!

It’s also great that memes let the bloggers personality shine through too – it helps in getting to know bloggers better!

As much as I love the writing prompt for memes, they can get quite overwhelming for me at times. I prefer to have all my posts pre-written for at least two weeks ahead of schedule at all times. It’s the way I handle the massive amount of review books I’ve got coming in. Otherwise I start to feel overwhelmed and behind. That two week cushion really helps me a lot. So, I’ve tried to find memes that list the prompts well in advance. Makes things much less stressful.

      • Yea, all the memes I participate in have prompts a month or more ahead. I try to do a month at a time, but it doesn’t always work that way for me.

The two week cushion is nice. It feels good to have that again. heh

    3. I haven’t participated in Ginger’s meme. I’ll have to check it out. That is a good point that meme’s give you direction.

    4. Karen says:

I want to participate in Top Ten Tuesdays at some point. I always forget until I see everyone’s posts up and by then it’s too late to come up with my top 10.
I love any meme that gets everyone talking and allows the bloggers personality to shine through.

    5. Nicola says:

I like the memes you’ve listed. I think it’s awesome when a meme can get people thinking and generate discussion. It’s always really fun to learn more about other bloggers!

I like reading the Top 10 Tuesday posts but I’m too lazy to participate in that one myself!

    6. Bonnie says:

For me personally, it is the memes that really encourage a dialogue that keep me interested and coming back for me. I usually participate in 2 (BBC and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading) on alternating weeks with the occasional WOW thrown in. But I really only participate if I have something to say.

I haven’t heard of the Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge meme before but I am definitely checking it out (if only because the name has me so interested!)

      • I agree with the dialogue bit, and I only participate in my memes when I have something to say too. I didn’t do last week’s TTT because I was not interested in the topic.

Clock Rewinders is great. The hosts officially stopped linking up other blogs for various reasons, but we can still participate as long as keep the COMMUNITY spirit alive!

    7. I love the Top Ten Tuesday. It’s one of my favorites! And I love lists, so it’s a perfect combination. :D

    8. Jo says:

I participate in a few memes, mostly the ones I can keep up with. I like reading responses to Top Ten Tuesdays on the blogs I read — so maybe I should try that one (like, once a month or something). :)

    9. Great meme choices. Memes help fill up my week. I also like to see what other bloggers put for the same questions. But I skip them sometimes when I don’t like the topic or don’t feel I have anything to offer on the topic.

    10. I love those meme’s too and I love it when they are discussion post ideas.
