My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie at The Unread Reader. To find out more, check out the introduction post.

“I am the god Apostolos. The Harbinger of Telikos. The Final Fate of all. Beloved son of Apollymi the Great Destroyer. My will makes the will of the universe.”

Acheron Parthenopaeus, aka Ash, aka Bad Ass Atlantean God, aka Akri, aka T-Rex, aka Smex on a stick.

Ash hails from The Dark Hunters series by Sherriyln Kenyon, which is 82 books long and growing. I kid, but it is in the 20s now. Don’t believe me? Go here. See. Told ya.

Ash was young when he died and became the first Dark-Hunter. He wrote the Dark-Hunter Creed and Code, which makes him their leader of sorts. Ash makes an appearance throughout the series because he has a pivotal role in this world. He is quite elusive and mysterious throughout, which make his personal story quite incredible. We don’t get his personal story until 15 books in. The wait is worth it, trust me. I don’t think I’ve ever read something so emotional, ever. It truly melted my soul. What happens to him is beyond horrific, yet he remains one of the most magnanimous characters I’ve ever encountered.

“Yes, Soteria. I have. I assure you, my life has never been an easy one and you should be grateful every day you live that you can’t imagine what kind of childhood I had.”

”I’m sorry, Ash. I didn’t know.”

“It’s easy to look at people and make quick judgments about them, their present, and their past, but you’d be amazed at the pain and tears a single smile hides. What a person shows to the world is only one tiny facet of the iceberg hidden from sight. And more often than not, it’s lined with cracks and scars that go all the way to the foundations of their soul.”

Seriously, I would fight for that man. Plus, he’s an ancient Atlantean god, which means he has lots of…experience. I would take care of him, he would really take care of me. Win/Win, I say. icon smile My Book Boyfriend: Acheron Parthenopaeus

Artemis describes him as:

He had been built to please, and trained to pleasure. Everything about him from the sleek muscles that rippled to the deep, erotic timber in his voice seduced anyone who came into contact with him. Like a lethal wild animal, he moved with a primal promise of danger and masculine power. With the promise of supreme sexual fulfillment.

*melt*

6’8” ppl. Big man. Everywhere.

Born in 954 BC! Lots and lots of time to perfect his skills. icon wink My Book Boyfriend: Acheron Parthenopaeus

He’s blonde, but hates it. He’s kinda goth/punk-like, and usually dyes it black & red.

He is one fierce son of a bitch, but damn, he  possesses more humanity than most humans.

His best friend is a Charonte demon named Simi. She’s pretty much a daughter-figure to him, and he would lay his life down for her.

When he loves, he loves deep.

Oh, and he’s a smartass. Man after my ♥.

Artemis: “I don’t like your hair black.”
Ash: “And I don’t like your head attached to your shoulders. Guess we can’t all have what we want, huh?”

“Actions that sometimes seem mean aren’t. Rather they are done by the ones we love in order to protect us without our knowing it.”

Ash: “What else can I do to piss you off?”

Tory: “You can leave me.”

Ash: “I would never do that, Tory. No one can live without their heart and that’s what you are to me.”

Tory: “You would give John Travolta a run for his money.”

Ash: “Yeah, and I’m sorry about my clothes. I tried, but I just couldn’t bring myself to wear that. Hell, I couldn’t do the disco look even when it was popular. I swear I’m allergic to polyester. Thank God for the punk movement. Otherwise I’d have been naked for a decade.”

Ash: “Because I don’t feel broken when you look at me.”

Tory: “How could you feel broken?”

Ash: “I was shattered as a child and thrown away, like a piece of trash no one wanted. But you don’t treat me like that. You see in me the human bit and you touch that part of me. You make me feel whole and wanted.”

Can you tell I’m a fan? Really. I am. Major love to Ash. ♥

My Ash is being played by hunky Travis Fimmel, who is obviously a fan favorite.

I have to agree. His has to be one of the most heartbreaking stories in all of romance. I love that book. FANTASTIC choice!!

    2. Belle says:

I haven't read this series, but it definitely sounds intriguing! Excellent choice, he sounds very swoon-worthy!!!

    3. Oh no no no! I WOULD SHARE MY HUSBAND BEFORE I'd let you have my Ash! He's mine. No questions. I LOOOOVE HIM. *swoon* *die*

Did this book not just KILL you? I probably cried 100 times. I SWEAR, no matter how fictional this series is… I will ALWAYS hate the goddess Artemis. Can't help it.

    4. Missie says:

Hahaha! I hadn't seen those pictures of Travis Fimmel with red/black hair before. Good job PS gods!

Okay, thanks so much for that PDF! Now I know these order of all 100 books. And I can't believe I haven't read a single one! *deep sigh*

I mean, who doesn't want to know more about a man who "had been built to please, and trained to pleasure." *le swoon*

Thanks for featuring Ash, Ash! :)

    5. Amanda says:

I want to read this book now, not wait through the 11 books that stand between me and it. Sigh. Too many books to read, so little time.

    6. Julie says:

I think you chose the perfect visual for Ash! I'm only on book 8, but I can't wait to read Acheron! I already own it…just so I'm ready when I get there. lol

    7. Smash_Attack says:

There is no other story like his. It is horrific and magnificent, all rolled into one heartbreaking and amazing book. ♥

    8. Smash_Attack says:

It's a pretty cool series. You get an HEA in each book, and there are different types of paranormal creatures (dark hunters, were hunters, dream hunters, etc). And Ash is one of the best parts!

    9. Smash_Attack says:

Um. Back offfffffffffffff. I will cut you!!!!!!!! lol
Yes, his story is quite the emotional clusterfuck. And Artemis is scum. I wish Ash would let Simi eat her already!

    10. Smash_Attack says:

This series is pretty great. I hope you check it out someday. It's a big series to take on, which is why so many ppl pass it up. :/

    11. Smash_Attack says:

Can. Not. WAIT. I will be living vicariously through you as you sob and laugh and sob some more. Be prepared for some serious emotional wreckage.

    12. I'm only on book four (although I own all of the series already), so I only looked at (and drooled all over) the pictures. Thank you for that. :D

    13. Smash_Attack says:

It is quite the roller coaster. Be prepared. Box of tissues. Quiet time. No interruptions. Nothing to do afterwards. You will be an emotional mess!

    14. Smash_Attack says:

eeeeeep. So excited for you. ♥

    15. Jen D. says:

*sigh* Yet another series I have to start. Will I ever catch up?!

    16. Smash_Attack says:

It's a long one, but so worthy!

    17. Amanda says:

It's probably a good thing I like books that emotionally wreck me.

    18. I love him, I love him, I love him.
And that model… OMG… *fans herself*
Acheron is one of my favorite heroes and top 5 of my book boyfriends. Now I feel like reading Acheron's book again.
Thank you for this wonderful post.

    19. I needs this series so much! Needs it I tell you. Just look at him! *drool* Oh and thinking about him naked for a decade? Darn punk movement! ;)

    20. Smash_Attack says:

You definitely do needs it. ♥

    21. Smash_Attack says:

He IS my top. I doubt anyone will ever push him off his pedestal. :)

    22. I like Ash but I am in love with Nick and Dev!

I do think you perfectly cast Ash! Though for the life of me even though I know he "looks" younger when reading I still make him older in my mind LOL

Great Great Great Book Boyfriend :)

    23. Nic @ Irresistible says:

I love Ash and those pics and quotes make me want to re-read his story all over again.

    24. Smash_Attack says:

Travis Fimmel is a fan fav so I didn't have too look far. I think he's pretty perfect. :)

    25. Smash_Attack says:

It's an amazing read. Rips your soul to shreds and then patches it up nicely. ♥

    26. Logan E. Turner says:

Okay book bully. I added this series to my TBR list. Ash may have influenced me a bit too. I wish I had that model's hair!

    27. Tara SG says:

I've read up until his story and for some reason can't bring myself to start his book! I think I'm afraid it won't live up to my expectations :(

    28. Smash_Attack says:

You HAVE to read it. You will be an emotional disaster after the fact, but you have to hear his story!

    29. Sarah S says:

Oh no! Don't fret. Ash's story surpasses them all! It's awesome!

    30. Love Ash says:

The first half of the book was one of the most heart-wrenching and horrifying things I have ever read. I can't even imagine anyone, let alone a child having to go thru what Acheron did. That he came out such an amazing, caring person speaks to how strong he is. He is an amazing character in an amazing book. I can hardly wait for the next Dark-Hunter book to come out.
